The ‘Snapshot Past’ collection by Charlotte Hutton began as seven real postcards found at the back of an antique store, and with some oil paints and finely tipped brushes they have been reproduced into fourteen paintings on canvas. Her intention has been to create an aura that is absent in the mass-produced postcard, to take the viewer on a nostalgic journey, and to generate a curiosity in this outmoded form of communication.
